Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse

Santa letters stuffed up the chimney, my favourite time of year is here again- Christmas shopping for the kids. Top of L’s wishlist and straight out of Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse, was the Barbie Malibu House, an amazing two storey explosion of pink, kitsch and cool. Complete with a fair few Barbie mod cons (fish-tank staircase anyone?), we were beyond excited when those lovely people at Mattel asked us to review said Barbie Malibu House.

A substantially sized toy, the 72.7 x 57 x 58 cm house is a robust build and simple to assemble, with six rooms and an elaborate Barbie staircase. Accessories that come with the house are;  a bed that doubles up as a closet and shower, vanity table, dining table, two dining chairs, sofa, coffee table, glittery entertainment room swivel chair and additional bits and bobs for the kitchen, dining room, bedroom and bathroom. Nifty features include the ability to plug your smartphone into Barbie’s entertainment system, a detail which works well for a five year old (and mummy) wanting to listen to Taylor Swift on repeat. Rotating the house, it can be displayed with the front of the house on view or opened up to look at the impressive rooms.

The Barbie Malibu House is shamelessly Barbie pink, and that’s what makes it so ridiculously special. Each part of the property has been intricately thought out, and L finds a new thing to be intrigued by each day. I also may have ever so slightly enjoyed setting Barbie up to have tipsy wine nights with her pals. Fantastic toy design aside, could Barbie’s architect come and convert my wardrobe into a multi-purpose shower room?

For Barbie fans and mamas, aunties and little brothers to boot, playing with the Barbie Malibu House is definitely living the dream.

Car, dogs, dolls and dresses sold separately. All other accessories featured are inclusive of the Barbie Malibu House. The Barbie Malibu House was gifted to us for the purpose of this review.
