iCandy Raspberry Review

A big fan of stylish buggies, I was super excited to take the gorgeous iCandy Raspberry for a spin.

Road-testing it over a sunny weekend of shopping, walking and family time, Mr T and I are now officially in love with our savvy new multi award-winning stroller. Launched last autumn, the Raspberry is lightweight, portable and super sleek. Choosing the matte black chassis option (you can also order it in a natural brushed aluminium) I was seriously impressed with this bad boy when we built it. Straightforward to assemble, the Raspberry comes with complimentary seat unit, at a total RRP of £460.

Complete with 50+UPV rating to shield T’s eyes, we picked the red Lush hood, which looks super contrasting cool. The other six hood shade options available are; Arctic Night, Atlantic, Beetle, Sunflower, Wisteria and Fuchsia. Each additional stroller accessory can be bought in these Raspberry palette colours, so you can mix and match or co-ordinate. These extras include footmuff, newborn pod and seat liner.

Heading out for a day trip, the free-standing compact fold stroller fitted nicely into the boot of our car, although I can imagine it being simple to transport via plane, train or bus too. Once at our destination, I put the stroller back together with ease and we were off. The 4-wheel independent suspension means a smooth journey for T, and efficient steering for me. An adjustable handle height gave Daddy chance to push, switching between children to walk with. When I’m on my own, I like to have an arm free for L, which I am able to with the Raspberry. Thanks to some state-of-the-art wheels and innovative urban tyres, single-handed steering is effortless.

Suitable from birth right up to 25kg, if you were to have a newborn they could lie-flat and face you, which I think is so lovely during those first few months. My little mister is well past this point though, so he enjoyed seeing the world, comfy in the extra cushioned, luxuriously soft, seat unit. A three position reclining seat, seriously, I’d like a snuggle in there myself. Made from a breathable, water-resistant fabric, I even managed to keep up the serene earth mother act when T spilt his entire drink down himself. Safe in the knowledge I could clean it all up later, this is just one of the Raspberry’s intuitive features.

It probably wouldn’t be a day out for L and I without a bit of shopping, so we were delighted to discover the 5kg capacity storage basket. Also ideal for tucking coats, cups, toys and all random luggage acquired, it’s simple to access. Sometimes shopping baskets under buggies can be tricky to get at in a rush, but this one is both spacious and brilliant for quickly shoving stuff into.

The true test of any pushchair is putting it back in the car at the end of a busy day. I have even been known to shove buggies into the boot whole, hoping no passers-by have seen (or taken photographic evidence of) my ineptness. This one however, dismantles like a dream. If like us you always end up with muddy wheels, you will adore the clam-like fold which avoid a grubby seat, whatever the state of your tyres. While it does fold with the seat unit in situ, should you want an even more compact, you can remove it first. Free-standing once folded, it makes for slimline storage and takes up little space in our porch.

I personally think the Raspberry is a game-changer for lighter strollers, as it is luxe, efficient and sleek; a combination I’ve struggled to find previously. It’s no surprise the Raspberry won the Red Dot Design Award in 2014 and the Good Housekeeping Institute Approved 2015 Award. Going up to 25kg, it caters for those of us who have tots in pushchairs a bit longer. This sophisticated stroller will certainly make our school walk much smarter.

The iCandy Rasperry was gifted to us for the purpose of this review.

Now available internationally, you can find the Raspeberry at all iCandy retailers nationwide including John Lewis, Mothercare and selected online retailers. The iCandy Raspberry retails from £460, which includes the seat liner.

I bought mine in silver, the black looks amazing, I will be changing the hood to another colour for the rest of summer as this is only £40, I’ll put the grey one back on the autumn. Can’t believe it will seat a 25Kg child.

Such a good idea to change the hood for a different look!
