Two weeks ago a fair few childhood dreams came true, when we were invited to the Sylvanian Families 30th Birthday picnic at Wallington Hall in Northumberland.
A day packed with fun Sylvanian Families activities, we took part in a treasure hunt, explored vintage toys and generally ran wild around Wallington. With me probably being the most excited, I get particularly nostalgic about the Sylvanians because of the mass of those little mini animals I used to own. When I was 7 I took part in a colouring competition and actually won, choosing to spend the £5 toy shop credit on Sylvanian Families. I can clearly remember the sheer joy of how much money that seemed and carefully picking out my prize.
The birthday celebrations also included a live show from some giant Sylvanian Familes performers, face painting, an enormous selfie with said Sylvanians and the chance to win a ton of goodies. National Trust property Wallington Hall is a gorgeous country house with vast grounds and numerous adventure play parks, so it was the ideal picnic destination. A beautiful place to visit in all weathers, I spent a lot of childhood days out there and we love to take our kids too.
After a fab few hours, we left Wallington with happy memories, exhausted children and Sylvanian Families cardboard hats. Naturally, I wore my new headpiece all the way home (and a bit of the next day too).
