I think I may have mentioned my absolute love of autumn, a season which gives us coats to cover a multitude of sins and thick tights to transform our summer wardrobe.
This is usually the time when I’m desperate to don some winter woolies, just as hot weather decides to miraculously appear. Transitional style buys bridge that seasonal gap, allowing you to dip your toe into AW; so I’ve put together a trio of fashion finds which are ideal for now as well as later.
1. Anniston City Boots – Clarks, £90
I don’t know about you but my beady eyes are on the boot hunt way too early. Black stompy shoes were featured strongly across AW15 fashion month and these fit the brief perfectly. Tapping into the stacked heel trend, they scream staple autumn buy. The buckle biker look adds a tough edge, offset against the more feminine pointed toe, whilst the Clarks signature Cushion Plus technology provides much needed comfort. A cut-out feature completing the design detail and these babies will definitely bring boots collection bang up to date.
2. Textured Border Cape – Warehouse, £12
So you might have already gathered that capes are everywhere for AW15, and this one is a total bargain. Reduced from £25, the soft knit fabric makes it light enough for any early autumn sunshine. Throw on over a denim or leather jacket later, layering up in ideal on-trend style. Geometric and monochrome, this textured cape is one must-have transitional sale buy.
3. AX Paris Camel Oversized Zip Dress – Regram Runway, £25
A complete classic for autumn, camel is such a versatile shade. The catwalks awash with Seventies vibes, the colour of this gorgeous oversized dress confidently ticks that trend box. Wear now alongside bare legs and boots, pairing with a black polo neck and opaque tights come winter. I’m also thinking over-the-knee boots and a nice faux fur jacket for when it gets really nippy.
