All over the press this week is talk of the Scandi Wave, as showcased by vlogger and hair expert Nicci Welsh. Nicci used a ghd styler to create the look, sectioning her hair and styling at the same time.
Jo Robertson, head of hair education at ghd says, “This season we are seeing hair that is undone and effortless- naming it “Dream Hair” or “Scandi Hair”- it’s the hair that looks like you flawlessly just wake up with! The key to this look is taking small sections of hair and whilst bending it gently push the styler over the bend and then clamp to fix it into place. Try not to be too perfect with this, it should have an uneven pattern to the wave to make it look effortless”.
ghd recommend using a styler (I love my ghd V Styler set which is also £20 off atm!), Dressing Brush and Heat Protect Spray. I tend to religiously use the Advanced Split End Therapy too.
I’m as hooked on my ghds as the next person, so I was eager to try this trend. Being a busy mama in a rush, I have to admit I’ve tweaked this slightly, by straightening my hair as usual and then taking random sections of hair, rather than sectioning the entire head. Pushing a small section into an S shape, you make a “tap, tap” motion along the hair, literally tapping the strand in place. This will totally change the way you see your straighteners, making for a really easy wave.
With the mermaid look firmly in, this kind of replicates how your hair would look after sleeping in plaits. Never a fan of the polished look, basically because of a lack of time, I’m embracing the Scandi Wave. Undone is definitely OK by me!
