It’s been cold, wet and windy in Northumberland lately, so definitely time to sneak some new winter woolies into my wardrobe. A local company, Snugbug, do stunning outdoor accessories and I was obviously more than happy to sample them when the opportunity arose…
Handmade in Nepal using New Zealand wool, I’m a little bit in love with these completely cosy winter warmers. The 100% wool elements are combined with Polartec fleece, which is seen as the best fleece in the world. Definitely a winning duo when you spend your life chasing kids along North Northumberland beaches and around freezing cold playparks!
This Cable Floppy Pom Pom Beanie in White has been coming everywhere with me, from the school run to the supermarket. Lined with said fleece, to be honest I’m reluctant to remove its toastiness even when indoors. I think the fairisle beaut is headwear too, but I wear it to warm my neck as well as my ears. Basically, just chucking on as many knitted garments as possible and, with extra style points for the obligatory faux fur trim.
You can definitely tell the difference between these wool and fleece accessories and your standard acrylic fare, and I think the fact that there’s a story behind them is crucial. Good working conditions, quality workmanship and end results are all key to the Snugbug ethos.
From the cutting room floor is the below pic, which I wasn’t going to include. But, it shows you the the bobble flying high in the air. A cute little feature, I love its pom pom detail. And very on trend at the moment too. Go on then spring, you can hold off a little longer.
