In our house, both L and T are big Barbie fans, so we were excited to review the new Dreamtopia Rainbow Lights Mermaid doll.
By pressing Barbie’s necklace button, the lights in her mermaid tail light up. You then dip her in water to see a shimmery rainbow appear. Although this doll is designed to be used in water, my two also had a lot of fun playing with her out of it. The lights are luminous and sparkly, showing off the colours and Barbie’s fabulous tail. Dipping and diving through the living room and crashing into other toys, she definitely brightened up the day.
Part of the new Dreamtopia story, this is a make-believe world created by Barbie’s little sister Chelsea, via her dreams. Barbie, Chelsea and their puppy Honey swim through magical rainbow rivers and fly through cotton candy clouds with fairies. Dreamt up by Barbie & co., this new adventure lets you escape to fluffier and sparklier climes. All of which is the standard, fun Barbie material which my kids adore.
Packed full of usual Barbie brights, this doll makes me think of summer holidays and so has been perfect for the Easter break. A robust doll, the tail comes in two parts that you clip together, and she is more than sturdy enough for small brothers sneaking a play.
When bath-time came, we put Barbie in with the bubbles and watched the lights glimmer under the water. The only problem was a fight between the kids as to who got to let her swim first.
As always, L was a fan of the pink stripe in her hair and has taken to pinching my label.m Powder Pink Spray to re-create. A true beauty editor mini-me…
