Starting School

T x S 2

Mr T, my youngest babe, starts reception next week. As it was when L began her full time school journey, I feel a total mixture of emotions. I’m somewhere between being excited for him and the next step on his ladder of life and extremely sad that those baby years are over.

We’ve had a truly blissful summer. Don’t get me wrong, it has been super fraught at times- late nights at the laptop meeting deadlines combined with looking after two kids who need constant daytime entertainment is a juggle, but one that I would never part with.

Our holidays have revolved around time with my Mr and our extended family on a staycation break nearby, a sneaky night away sans kiddos, a weekend with my dad in Scotland and lots more fun thrown in too. Although the way it’s fallen has meant we’ve had seven weeks of summer, it has honestly flown by.

I feel sad that summer is coming to a close, yet happy to have such lovely memories under our belts. Also, this time of year always feels magical. The way the autumn light glistens, those new season knits and that all important countdown to Christmas. Yes,  forgive me, I’ve mentioned the C word…

Undoubtedly, there will be many tears shed next week. After I’ve plastered on a smile through drop-off and Mr T is safely in his classroom. However, I am certain he is going to thrive. There are amazing times ahead, I just need to get over my soppy Mama emotions first. Which may take the first week or two.

I don’t know about you, but I always get giddy about autumn fashions, cosy candle evenings, wearing boots, making pies and snuggling up. A new season  and lots of new starts. Bring it on.
