Continuing with the fashion week theme as London shows drew to a close yesterday, lots of different nail looks have been sported across catwalks. My favourite in particular, is the dual-textured effect seen at the Emilio de la Morena show, as created by the experts at Orly.
One of the main fashion and beauty highlights across LFW has been Spanish-influenced style, throughout patterns, colours and makeup. This is also seen in high street shops at the moment, with floral embellishments adding in a touch of the Spanish senorita vibe. Perfect to brighten up any grey winter days, I’m lusting after a pair of jeans plus embroidered detail.
Ami Streets is the Lead Nail Technician for Orly, heading up the team backstage at the Emilio de la Morena show. Ami says, “The Emilio de la Morena SS17 collection was inspired by the Spanish festival, Las Fallas. A celebration of energy and colour, the clothes of plenty of embellishment, tailoring and texture, through lace, chiffon and silk. Emilio wanted the beauty look to be natural, beautiful and elegant, but to bring out an element of texture, so I worked with him to create a cut-out, dual-textured nail using Orly’s soft shell pink shade, Lift The Veil. The half of the nail that has the colour on was finished with a high shine top coat, and the other bare half was given a slick of matte top coat, so the nail mirrored the two-toned elements in the SS17 collection”.
Although this look is set to be big beauty news for next spring and summer, I actually think it’ll go well now alongside the luxe textures of this season’s velvet trend. Adding in an opulent, luxurious feel, nails will become both natural and glossy. The half and half varnish versatility is easy to wear and will suit your every beauty mood.
