Taking a trek in nearby woods last weekend was the perfect opportunity for my Mr to trial his brand new Helly Hansen Alpha 2.0 Jacket. Kindly gifted to us by the brand, this stunning high-tech ski jacket is a contemporary coat featuring an array of impressive resortwear design details.
Priced at £380, the jacket is clearly an investment piece which will be an essential winter wardrobe staple for several years to come. Although we have no skiing holidays currently planned, this is the main purpose of the jacket, with components focused on resort requirements. Available in six colours, you can choose between; C’s Alert Red shown here, Evening Blu, Racer Blu, Black, Winter Aqua and Rock. This particular jacket is also an updated version of Helly Hansen’s previous ski coat incarnations.
The breathable jacket has a waterproof Helly Hansen Professional shell fabric, including a four-way stretch design. It’s clear from watching Chris in the coat and hearing his account, how flexible the material is. On the day pictured, we walked for miles across all terrains and experienced a heavy torrential downpour, with my other half completely protected from the elements.
Clearly the coat is more than just a waterproof layer though and PrimaLoft insulation within the jacket has a body mapping system, directing warmth to the right areas. In addition, its H2Flow system regulates temperature with special mechanical vent qualities.
One of Mr B’s favourite parts of the jacket is the wrist gaitors and accompanying thumb holes, keeping him snug on the move. These are complimented by hand-warming pockets and chest pockets too. Furthermore, there are other internal pockets aplenty, plus a designated space for your ski pass.
The adjustable hood is compatible with a detachable helmet, should you be shopping for the optimum ski jacket. HH have literally covered everything with the creation of this jacket, making it an absolutely amazing winter outerwear piece. My husband is over the moon with his new jacket and I can see it being worn a lot. In fact, I’m not sure he’ll take it off once out of the front door and into that chilly air.
I love the look of this jacker, and the colour he chose adds a bright pop to winter sartorial style proceedings. Functional, stylish and practical; it literally ticks all the cold coat boxes. To be honest, I can’t guarantee I won’t be pinching it for myself, as an over-sized option.
Up in North Northumberland, we’re always prepared for a heavy winter and one year, this meant being snowed in for two weeks. Safe to say, Chris is going to have no wardrobe issues posed by the freezing climate now.
With a big thanks to Helly Hansen, who gifted us the Alpha 2.0 Jacket featured for the purpose of this review.
