Positive Resolutions

Core Classics 5

This is a public service announcement: YOU do not need to change YOU, contrary to popular new year’s belief. About this time of year, we seem inundated with diet plans, lifestyle changes and general routes to being a ‘better’ person. Let me tell you now, you are fine exactly how you are. And as I wrote last January, why not go ahead and embrace a new year celebrating the same you?

Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t discount aims and goals. Positive amendments are a different kettle of fish, simply embellishing the skills and personality you already possess. However, I’m just not up for this concept that we must annually critique ourselves.

So here is my positive to-do list, something which is more of an ongoing project than a whimsical new year fad:

  • Don’t be afraid of saying no. You do not need to be available all of the time.
  • Keep being kind to yourself, and if you’re not already, make this your number 1 goal.
  • Put the guilt to one side, whatever it relates to.
  • Have the cake/wine/dessert and make sure you enjoy it.
  • Walk more, it does help you feel better physically and mentally and is an activity which will never require a fancy kit or gym-sized direct debit.
  • Prioritise yourself over others- you cannot put other people’s life jackets on if you are not already wearing your own. Or something like that, anyway.
  • Do what makes you happy, regardless of anyone else.
  • Treasure those who enable you to feel like the best version of you, they are the relationships to invest in.

What do you reckon? Are there any you’d like to add? Here’s to grabbing life with both hands and being damn proud of who we are. Now, back to my coffee and a large chunk of leftover chocolate.

Love this! Completely agree. When resolutions come from a place of negativity they can be very damaging…and bound to fail, creating a vicious cycle of self-hatred. What’s the point? Much better to make small positive changes through the year. Wise words lovely xx

Ahh thank you so much for stopping by the blog and reading 🙂 Absolutely agree- all about avoiding the negativity- there’s enough of that in life beyond our control, so always strive to stay on top of positivity instead! Happy new year xxx
