We’ve been doing a little re-decorating recently.
This started last year with a new bathroom, and earlier in the month my Mr and I painted our bedroom. Four and a half years after moving in, our adult space was in dire need of some TLC. Since becoming a little obsessed with chalk paint, I decided to re-vamp our tired mirrored wardrobes and give these frames, as well as the bedside tables, a lick of duck egg blue.
We then matched the walls up using a slightly darker tone, before adding in a statement midnight blue behind our bed. Finally, a Made lampshade injects a copper hue and we replaced the dodgy handles originally on our wardrobes with gorgeous newbies found at Homebase. I love the overall effect, and it’s made the entire room into much more of a haven.
Other changes made within the house include brightening up our knackered previously-white Ikea table. I love the shape of the table and saw buying new as an unnecessary expense, so we slapped grey chalk paint onto the main body. Then, I had the brainwave of using up some blackboard paint sitting unused in the garage. We bought it years ago with the idea of making an exciting space for the kids to draw, and like all good intentions, never got round to arranging.
The table we have has an additional insert which can be used to lengthen this piece of furniture. So I painted this extra piece of wood, meaning we don’t always have to have it on display. The result looks brilliant, as the black and grey work well and scribbling is always a fun activity for the kids (and me too).
Next on my list is adding finishing touches, such as new towels*. And then hopefully a kitchen update, plus maybe more wardrobe space…*keeps dreaming*.
