Easter Adventures

The sun has been shining here in Northumberland, so we took advantage at the weekend, grabbing a beach barbecue that lasted well into the evening. Disclaimer: this did involve yours truly dancing on picnic tables wearing a blanket and singing along to the Grease 2 soundtrack. And believe it or not, I hadn’t had a drop of alcohol. What can I say, embarrassing my kids is a natural talent…

Over the Easter holidays we’re heading off on a family trip, including one child-free date night in London town. Something that has been planned for a little while, I love looking forward to adventures on the horizon. In preparation, today is mostly being spent packing and tidying while the kids play/go stir crazy/eat their body weight in ice lollies.

Yesterday, The Emporium in Alnwick kindly gifted me a couple of items to take away, including the cute pink notebook above. Complete with their in-house monogram personalisation detail, this is a brand new service the Northumberland boutique shop offers. The Emporium also sent a beautiful clutch bag, which I’m going to take away this time and wear during my sister’s wedding weekend in May. A stationery fiend (who isn’t?), I’m hooked on monogramming too, so these goodies are right up my street. If you’re local to Northumberland or passing through Alnwick on holiday, I’d definitely recommend stopping in at this home, accessories and gift-led treasure trove.

Back to the folding and packing I go, before co-ordinating some date break outfits. While I imagine there won’t be a place for tabletop dancing in the hotel we’re staying, I’m sure we’re going to have a lot of fun. Living in Northumberland is packed with breathtaking beauty, but a city break with some slightly more cosmopolitan sights shall always be welcome.

Here’s to a fantastic bank holiday weekend, whatever you get up to.
