In amongst our busy lifestyles and chaotic schedules, lethargy can be a serious problem, with Dr Laubscher explaining that this can often link up with lymphatic system issues. Dr Laubscher says, ““Your lymphatic system’s major role is to collect excess fluid from the tissues, purify it and return it to the blood stream. When your lymphatic system fails to sweep up these excess fluids, they can accumulate, cause swelling and potentially increase the risk of infection.”

Dr Laubscher’s tips for a healthy lymphatic system

1. Rebounding

Is the practice of jumping on a trampoline (yes seriously!) for 10-30 minutes. It’s one of the easiest ways to pump the lymph by stimulating the circulation of blood throughout the body.

2. Dry brushing

Assists in lymphatic flow and boosting circulation. Simply take a dry brush with a coarse bristle and brush the skin towards the heart. This stimulates the sweat glands, opens pores, and gets rid of dead skin cells. It also encourages the movement of lymph and blood in underlying organs and tissues of the body, which helps clear built-up toxins. As a result, it can be beneficial in improving skin conditions and reducing cellulite.

3. Drink more water

Our Lymph is about 95% water, making water essential for its health. Without adequate water, lymphatic fluid cannot flow properly. And one of the most common causes of lymph congestion is dehydration. Water, and only water, can adequately rehydrate the body.

4. Enzymes

Enzymes are produced by the body to break down food substances and to expedite countless metabolic processes. They are also utilised by the body to clear toxic-waste buildup in the lymph and blood, making their supplementation a key way to improve lymphatic health. Pineapple is high in enzymes, another reason it was included in our Alkalising Formula.

5. Sweat

A great way to increase your lymph detox is to visit a dry sauna 1-2 x week. A high intensity workout, also works well.
