A few weeks ago, footwear brand Moshulu asked me to become involved with a fun boots styling challenge. The brief covered choosing a pair of autumnal shoes and dressing them up five different ways.
The pair I wanted are called River (£95), and to demonstrate the gorgeous colour options available within their range, they just had to be purple. Also available in indigo and cranberry, I’m borderline obsessed with plum shades at the moment. Stunning with blush pink, black and a whole host of other tones, bright footwear is a brilliant way of adding colourful notes to your winter wardrobe.
Beautiful robust boots which are both cosy and comfortable, they are extremely versatile. Described as worker boots, these suede beauties have a strong and practical sole. Walking along, you can feel how hardy they are and honestly, the boots are so kind to your feet. Even after wearing them all day, there was no hint of a pinch or ache.
School run, girly night out, autumnal walks, weekend exploring; tick off all of the above outfit scenarios and more. Worn at the top with an Accessorize cape from a few seasons ago, Dorothy Perkins pinafore and trusty opaques, on this day pictured we were heading for a family brunch.
Later that evening, a girls’ cinema date came calling, for which I wore my current favourite- this celestial skirt and metallic top duo bought recently from Marks & Spencer. And not forgetting, the Lulu Guinness lips clutch. As the boots aren’t clumpy, they are well suited to skirts.
Out for Sunday lunch, the tights and cape were back (firm winter staple); this time from Primark. Khaki is another key autumnal shade, and I think the purple boots complement my bag. As someone who shys away from colour a little, I’m really pleased that I plumped for this pair.
Heading into the garden to prance about in a new jumper I snapped up on hols overseas recently, I reckon they work well as a snug companion for lots of different occasions.
Finally, for the school run, I tend to wear a ton of layers. As the boots have a side zip as well as laces, you can easily throw them on when running out of the door. The outfit below combines Crew Clothing scarf and cardi, plus Petit Bateau Breton and Reiss jeans.
Dressed up or down, the suede finish and fleece trim are a winning team. Whether in a rush or going somewhere special, I’ve road-tested the River boots across day to day and weekend events.
We often get dodgy winters here in Northumberland and I already feel prepared with my new Moshulu boots. Stylish, comfortable and a complete winner, they are set to be a statement piece this season and beyond.
