Almost four years ago, I reviewed a Protected Species Mac. Despite wearing it a lot, the waterproof jacket is still pretty pristine. Founder Anne got back in touch recently, asking me to pick a new version. The gorgeous dark olive Commuter waterproof jacket seemed to be calling my name.
An absolutely beautiful cut, I love the way this jacket fits. It is streamline and chic, one stylish and practical waterproof jacket. Priced at £225, this is an investment worth making. Given that my previous Protected Species number is still going very strong, I can tell you these practical and extremely well made coats are more than worth the price tag.
Draping softly, other features include: a hidden hood, side pockets, soft fabric, waterproof permanence guarantee and seams which are also fully watertight. For the school gate, country walks and commuting to work in the rain, you can layer up underneath too.
I’m wearing a size 6-8 here and am 5ft 7. The fit is definitely true to size. A change from black and grey, which I do undoubtedly adore, this olive works well with both bright and darker clothing. Lightweight yet fully lined, I really like the sleeve button detail as well.
Since having these shots taken, we’ve got a new puppy addition to our family, so a stunning waterproof jacket such as this is even more needed now. I can’t wait to wear the Commuter on beach walks in drizzle, and keep dry under a cloudy sky.
Plus, paired with skinnies and heels for an evening out, the Commuter is the perfect understated accompaniment for any outfit. Expect to see lots of pics with me wearing both this waterproof jacket and my Protected Species Mac (although not at the same time).
