Chronic Health

Through this blog, and my writing work, I have a voice. Albeit a small one in the grand scheme of things, but I can’t rest easy not mentioning the less than fluffy things. Chronic health issues have been a huge part of my life, and in The Greatest Showman-style, this is me. Exposing my own vulnerabilities can help others, and that is a crucial privilege.

Over the years, I’ve written about my endometriosis journey, and the chronic health challenges which debilitating pain has posed. Each time I speak out, someone gets in touch to tell me that they/their sister/friend or other family member suffers too. This makes every single word worth it, as nobody should feel isolated. Not on my watch.

Although it can make me squirm a little mentioning personal chronic health things, I do know how important it is to raise awareness. After all, letting tough times shape us is an empowering part of life. There is no way I want to be defined by illness, yet from struggles I’ve gained strength.

I’m thinking about putting more pieces together, focusing on chronic health. Let me know your thoughts, if this is something you’d like to hear about.

From exhaustion to pain, other chronic health issues and day to day struggles, together we are stronger. Instagram has been a brilliant place for reaching out, with myself and several other women sending each other regular messages of support. Providing a community without judgement, and just a ‘take me as you find me’ ethos, is my kind of thing.

On a mission to support, help and empower, I’ll keep writing articles which raise endometriosis awareness and offer an insight into coping mechanisms or, just talking about the plain old nitty gritty of it all. I reckon we all need honesty and positivity, whatever the experience.
