It’s National Underwear Day on the 5th of August, so the lovely peeps at Something Wicked offered me a gift to celebrate. Embracing the ever popular underwear as outerwear trend, I chose a bit of kimono styling. Ideal for daytime or evening, kimono styling is big news at the moment. So easy to throw on over any outfit, it’s a simple way to add a little luxe style appeal and an extra special twist.
Showcasing the Jade Striped Mesh Kimono (£189), I love this piece’s sheer feel. And, the wide sleeves frame its flowing silhouette. The stripe detail makes the kimono a bit different to plain black and the shape is super flattering to boot. I am somebody who wears a lot of cardigans and jackets, but when dressing up an outfit, I’ve recently started turning to kimonos a bit more. They are stylish and timeless, and an option which has suddenly become really appealing. I think a kimono just offers old fashioned grown up glamour.
Thrown on over jeans, wedges and a top here, it makes far a more interesting look than donning a plain cardi everyday. Plus, as someone who likes style simplicity, you can’t go wrong. With warm summer days upon us, I’m thinking about wearing my new kimono with shorts and a tee too. Maybe even adding in some stilettos and statement earrings for a girls’ night out.
A beautifully detailed piece which feels deluxe, this investment buy will work well for seasons to come,
